Aker Solutions recently awarded ICARUS Piping AS (formerly Vector Piping AS) a contract for the Ormen Lange field.  The package includes pipes, flanges and fittings in 6Mo,316 and carbon steel.

The Ormen Lange subsea compression test facility located at Nyhamna, is a pilot program for testing subsea compressors. The objective is to determine whether the subsea compressor (at depth of 900 metres) could become a possible alternative to offshore platforms. The benefit of having an alternative to current offshore platforms marks an important milestone for the future of the oil and gas industry. Prequalification of this new application is expected to be completed by end 2011.
